You Are Alone.
The Forgotten Ones serves incarcerated individuals, returning citizens, and their families with judgment-free support so they can
get home and stay home.
Recover. Rebuild. Renew. We envision a society where every returning citizen is embraced for their potential, not judged by their past.
When there is a lack of resources, poor job opportunities, and no effective support system, those formerly incarcerated experience hardships that can impact their physical, emotional, and social well-being which negatively affects their families and their greater community, and drastically increases their likelihood to re-offend.
Fortunately, when effective programs and resources are in place, former offenders have far greater success in re-integrating into society and rebuilding healthy, productive, satisfying lives.
Our mission is to empower returning citizens with the support, resources, and encouragement they need to rebuild their lives, ensuring they are welcomed back into society with dignity, hope, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Through comprehensive re-entry programs, holistic recovery solutions, and community rebuilding efforts, we can help former offenders successfully reintegrate. By creating a safe haven where individuals can recover, rebuild, and renew, we aim to transform lives, one person, one family, and one neighborhood at a time.
A Broken System
The United States incarcerates its citizens more than any other country. Mass incarceration disproportionately impacts the disadvantaged—low-income and people of color.
Many people charged with crimes lack the resources to investigate cases or obtain the help they need, leading to wrongful convictions and excessive sentences.
Then, when the prison system deals with pre-existing conditions, such as poverty and mental illness, the outcomes are highly adverse.
When inmates are finally released, they are more traumatized, mentally ill, and physically battered than when they went in.
When adequate support and opportunities are not available those re-entering society, they are at even greater risk of becoming re-offenders.
The Forgotton Ones was founded in an effort to improve outcomes for these vulnerable individuals as they seek to rebuild their lives.
Providing returning citizens with a vision of how their life could be and the moral support and resources to make it happen!

You Can Help Share someone's story by sponsoring a Portfolio
An ex-offender needs to share a compelling story when they present their case to a parole board. A portfolio showcases their personal growth, achievements, and commitment to change, helping to demonstrate their readiness for reintegration.
Then, Stay Home Support to Meet Your Goals
Inmates who receive support during and after their incarceration are generally more likely to achieve successful reintegration into society. This support can come in various forms, including family connections, access to counseling, educational programs, and job training. When inmates feel connected and supported, they are less likely to re-offend and more likely to find stable employment and housing.
Building a strong support network helps them develop the skills and confidence needed to navigate life outside of prison, ultimately leading to better outcomes for both the individuals and their communities.
While we are actively developing additional support services, our top priority remains the establishment and enhancement of support groups for those in need.
Building a Community of Support Support Groups
At The Forgotten Ones, we understand that the challenges incarcerated individuals face extend deeply into their families. Families often experience a range of emotions, including stress, anxiety, and isolation. Our support groups for inmates' families provide a safe and judgment-free environment where they can share their experiences, seek advice, and find solace with others who understand their situation.
- Emotional Support: Families can express their feelings and frustrations in a supportive setting, helping to alleviate feelings of isolation.
- Shared Experiences: Participants can connect with others who are facing similar challenges, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
- Resource Sharing: Members can exchange information about available resources, services, and coping strategies that have worked for them.
- Educational Opportunities: Our groups often include discussions led by experienced facilitators on topics such as navigating the prison system, understanding the emotional impact of incarceration, and effective communication strategies.
